David C.Wisler Discussing with Turbomachinery Group
On the afternoon of November 10, 2018, David C. Wisler, member of US Academy of Engineering, visited the turbomachinery laboratory and had a wonderful academic exchange with the teachers and students of the turbomachinery laboratory.
Professor David C. Wisler is the winner of AIAA Lifelong Achievement Award. He is recognized as an international top expert in the realm of Aero-engine. He has been elected to the GE aviation Hall of Fame (the largest global aero-engine company). He joined the MIT CDIO Initiative to revitalize engineering education worldwide after retiring from GE. He is a past vice president and fellow of American Society of Mechanical engineers (ASME) and editor of ASME Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power and Turbomachinery.
At the meeting, Ph.D. students Lin Yun, Sun Zhenzhong, Zhang Meijie, Zeng Hanxuan, Wang Junying and postgraduate student Zou Wangzhi of the research group, introduced their research interests and their current progress respectively. The main topics are: compressor flow stability boundary, centrifugal compressor instability characteristics, experiments of compression system with upstream chamber, influence of speed fluctuation and combustion oscillation on engine aerodynamic stability, uncertainty quantification of the geometric parameters in aero-engine, design optimization of turbo-shaft engine performance at high temperature and high plateau. Professor Wisler appreciated the original research achievements, and praised everyone\'s creativity and international vision. He provided valuable suggestions to each research topic, which inspired students greatly.
