David C. Wisler visited the turbomachinery lab of Tsinghua University for academic communication
On the morning of October 28, 2019, David c. Wisler, member of the American academy of engineering, visited the turbomachinery lab of Tsinghua University, and had an excellent academic communication with members from the lab.
Professor David c. Wisler is the recipient of the AIAA lifetime achievement award, one of the world\'s leading experts in the field of aero-engines, inducted into the GE (world\'s largest aero-engine group) hall of fame, an adjunct or honorary professor at MIT and many other world-class universities, and vice President of the American society of mechanical engineers (ASME). He served as chief editor of ASME Journal of Turbomachinery and ASME Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power.
In this communication meeting, laboratory teacher Wang Baotong, postdoctoral Sun Zhenzhong, researcher Wen MengYang, doctoral candidates Lin Yun, Wei Jie, Wang Junying, Fan Tengbo, li Jia-an, master candidates Zou Wangzhi, Marinus (international students), Zhang Wen-chao, Niu Zitian, respectively introduce their research directions and research progress. Mainly containing blade deformation damage and the research plan, centrifugal compressor reduced-order model for surge boundary prediction, design of inlet and engine matching, geometric uncertainty quantification in aeroengine, the research progress of one-dimensional three-dimensional coupling method and development trends, optimization and design technology of turboshaft engine based on high temperature and plateau characteristics, high pressure ratio centrifugal compressor design difficulties, centrifugal compressor rotating stall phenomena research and simulation difficulties in multistage axial compressor were studied and discussed in this discussion. Professor Wisler gave valuable advice on different research topics and fully praised the originality of the research done by the lab members. He said he rarely saw a graduate student at a university who could present his research in the same logical way as the students presented today. He spoke highly of the creativity and international vision of the students and all the students benefited a lot from the communication.
